Book summary
Pete Egoscue, who calls himself an "anatomical functionalist," has one essential message: if you want to be healthy, move more. Egoscue has been a personal trainer to stars in a variety of sports fields, and his somewhat disarming approach comes across in this book in which you can almost hear his voice. Most important to Egoscue is anatomy, or structure. He looks at the body and sees a grid of horizontal and parallel lines which indicate the body's original design unity. When this design is violated by poor posture, it can cause bad health. Egoscue offers a series of exercises and poses--with names like Cats and Dogs, and Frog--designed to stretch and realign. Egoscue maintains an encouraging coach's tone throughout, and the common sense of his anatomical approach and his stress on movement keep the reader engaged.
