Book description: London: Valentine & Sons, ( Valentine's Book Toys ). ....# B-511, 14 pages (unpaginated). "During the 1920's, the first cartoon rabbit rose to fame in the Daily Mirror". This could be the first appearence of "Wilfred the Rabbit" in book form as far as I can tell, even the "Pip and Squeak" annual started in 1923 (and this book is 'former owner dated' 1923), no printed date or indication of reprint, (assumed First Edition) other than a former owners name and dated Xmas 1923 on inside front cover, fully illustrated in colour, the cover features a movable head of "Wilfred", back cover features other books in the same format, "The Life Story of Pip", "The Life Story of Squeak" & "The Adventures of Pip & Squeak", there are some strain marks at stapled spine, minor rubbing, some small soil spots (very minor), a 2" crease on back cover, check the scan, a small closed tear on spine edge at heel, and a 1/4" closed tear back cover left edge. "One day when 'Pip and Squeak' were out for a walk - 'Pip', as you probably know is a dog, while 'Squeak' is a most delightful penguin - they went into a turnip field and there saw, chasing a butterfly, a most extradinary little rabbit.."
