Book desription: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Edward Stern, 1909 Scarcest title in the Roosevelt Bears series. This is a Stern edition published, Sep 1, 1909; it is not the more common Barse & Hopkins reprint. 178 pages with all 15 color plates. B/w line drawings throughout. Teddy-B and Teddy-C solve a series of mysteries involving nursery rhyme characters. Seymour Eaton wrote of this title in the preface, "It is the best of the series." Pages generally clean with some finger smudges. Tight binding. Hinges are beginning to crack. Has all pages to include the endpapers and all 15 color plates. The upper right corner of one plate (page 83, pony and cow) has been torn away. The front endpapers are soiled and there is an owner's name and address in pencil on the front free endpaper. The b/w illustrations on pages 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 have been colored (not too bad of a job). Page 177 has some edgewear. The spine lettering has faded, but it is still legible. The cover has some edgewear. A good copy of a very scarce book. . First Edition. Pictorial Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by Wightman, Francis P. And William H. Sweeny. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
