Full red polished calf. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt decoration. Compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Blue and green labels, ruled and lettered in gilt. Double gilt ruled border on boards. Gilt stamped March Hare and Queen to the centre of boards. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. A wonderful copy.

Routledge, Warne, And Routledge. London. 1864. EARLY REPRINT (originally published in 1862). 4to. (10.4 x 8.2 inches). Illustrated with 30 full page plates. Some foxing to several pages but overall a very good example in a fine early leather binding of full dark green morocco. Spine with five raised bands, each with blind ruled line. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Both boards have bevelled edges and are decorated and lettered with elaborate floral and ruled line designs and decorative lettering. Turn-ins with decorative and ruled gilt designs. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Some rubbing to the extremities but overall a very good and attractive copy of this delightful example of Victorian book production. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a highly skilled binder.

In the rare original delux publishers dark green morocco leather binding with gilt ruling and lettering to the front panel. A little rubbing to the edges but overall a superior copy of this fragile book. Small printed paper label of a New York Bookseller on the rear blank endpaper. An attractive copy of this uncommon little book. A small ink spot to the lower board but overall a lovely copy in a fine 18th century calf binding. Originally published in 1762, Lowth's Introduction to Gramar went through several printings and revisions by the author.

Reprint of the original 1894 edition. 66 fine line illustrations by Beardsley, 25 new designs for this edition and 41 reprinted from earlier volumes issued in the Bon-Mots series. A few light spots to some of the pages but generally a very good copy in a fine early 20th century leather binding, possibly executed in 1922, of full burgundy crushed morocco. Both boards and spine with elaborate gilt decoration. Spine also lettered in gilt. Plain grey endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. A neat pencil note inside the rear cover might be a clue to the binder and date of the binding; 'MMXXI. A. EE.'. A couple of tiny holes to the bottom ninge but overall this is a very good and highly attractive binding. --- Lasner. Checklist of the published work of Aubrey Beardsley. First printings of these facsimile editions of the original first editions of 1866 and 1872. Bound in publishers delux leather bindings of full deep red morocco, reproducing the original bindings. Triple gilt ruled borders on boards and circular illustrations to the centre of the panels. Spines with ruled lines to the top and bottom and lettering, all in gilt. Black coated endpapers. All edges gilt. Aside from a tiny rub to the top of the spine on Through the Looking glass these are in fine condition. Macmillan issued these two facsimile editions in 1984 in cloth bindings and these much scarcer leather versions.

No binder's ticket, but appears to be a contemporary custom rebinding: blue leather spine and corners over blue cloth, gilt titles and rules, top edge gilt, new end sheets. "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of an autobiography ever written. Franklin's account of his life is divided into four parts, reflecting the different periods at which he wrote them.

Her husband Joseph Morrell Dodge had a long and distinguished career and tried to help reform Europe but later wound up as financial advisor to Douglas MacArthur in the economic revitalization of Japan. This edition is in very good condition internally. Photos of Ikebana arrangements by the famous Japan Ikebana master. A gift given to Julia Jeffers Dodge and placed in her library. 38 single sided (double page but other side blank) on high quality Japan paper with photo examples of Ikebana, black and white. A rare publication.
