Book Description

British Columbia, Canada: Presentation House Gallery, 1988. 1988 Catalogue to accompany the Sept. 23 - Oct. 23, 1998 exhibition. Cover shows handling wear and dog-earing but is still sturdy. Pages clean and also show handling wear. With 5-page essay by Russell Keziere. Also includes poetry, which I assume was written by the artist. 16 pages, with photos in both color and B&W. This is a very hard-to-find publication! ABOUT THE ARTIST & EXHIBITION: Featured 16 collage drawings in three parts. Materials include graphite, oil paint, wax, plaster, hardware, photographs and printed papers. Working drawings were a way for Morgan to deal with the "stuff" of a time based work in preparation for installation, but, as in the case of Have You Ever Loved Me?, occasionally the drawings become the stuff of the installation itself. The work was shown as a 12-part mural, a triptych, and a single panel drawing with a complex audiowork. Layers in the soundtrack include a recording at the newspaper where the artist worked, an aria, news bulletins heard over a telephone line, and an introspective voiceover. The audio and visual material work sometimes together, sometimes at odds with each other pulling together and breaking apart the story of the on-camera suicide of R. Budd Dwyer. Curated by Karen Love. Joey Morgan has developed public artworks and multi-disciplinary installations which have been shown in site specific contexts and gallery exhibitions in the United States, Australia, Denmark, France and across Canada. She has been awarded artist in residence at the Cité Des Arts in Paris, at Oud Amelisweerd in the Netherlands, and at Strokestown House in Ireland. . ISBN: 0920293174. First Edition. Stapled Softcover. Good/No Jacket. 9.75" x 13.5". Exhibition Catalog. R. Budd Dwyer Collages.
