The first part of this 3-part package is 2 sheets of 3-ring binder type lined paper found in the back of the below Sloan book contains 42 signatures of coaches and football players from the 1968 Shriner East West Football game. I've done nothing with the sheets as far as framing; they are currently just protected in an acid-free plastic bag. The sheets are in very good condition, with some aging and 'limpness' to the paper, one tear through one of the 3-ring binder holes, and non-instrusive to the signatures fold lines (one each horizontal and vertical), from where they had been folded and placed in Mr. Sloan's book. My football-fanatic brother and various football fan friends (some of whom I owe a great deal to as they're very familiar with many of the signatures on these sheets and could also give me some background on the players and coaches) have identified all but one of these signatures (a prize to any of you who can identify the one unknown!). They are, for the Western team: (Eugene) Mercury Morris, Al Brenner, Jim Seizemore, Charles H. Rosenfelder, Gene Huey, Roger Wehrli, Bill Earthquake Enyart, Edd Hargett, Terry Brown, Paul Gipson, Jon Kolb, Bill Bradley, John Zook, Jim Anderson, Mike Montler, Al Worley, James Mitchell, Pepper Rodgers, Keith Christensen, Jack O'Malley, Mike Schwier, Joe Paterno (coach, then at Penn State), Malcolm Soveron, Bobby Douglass, Jon Sandstrom and Jerry LeVias. For The Eastern team, they are: C. Rip Engle, Coach Paul Dietzel (then at So. Carolina), Ben Johnson, John Shiners, Charlie Jarvis, Dave Bradley, Bobby Campbell, Vince Dooley (coach, then at Georgia), Coach Jim Root (then at NH), Marti Stewart, Pay Dyer, Dave Foley, Gene Ferguson, Mike Hall, and Jack Rudnay. Plus the unknown is on one of the Eastern sheets: Julian (could I suppose be John, though it has that dotted 'i') Nurcenalson (or Rurcenalson, or something similar; I was unable to find such a name in the 1968 College Football Magazine that is another part of this package). Of course huge scans on request, so you can see the signatures. The second part of this package is an excellent condition Street and Smith's Official Yearbook College Football 1968 magazine (lots about O. J. Simpson in it). The magazine is bright and crisp without any handwriting in it. The spine is uncreased, but very slightly slanted forward. There is one short closed tear upper back binding, the upper back binding corner tip has a small fold crease, and there's just a bit of browning to the white background along the upper and spine edges. Tons of information about that year's college teams and coaches, and the players who have signed the above sheets. The last part of this package consists of a 1st edition/1st printing book by Steve Sloan titled Calling Life's Signals published by Zondervan Publishing House in 1967, containing an Introduction by Paul W. (Bear) Bryant. The book is signed and inscribed "To Marc, Best Regards, Steve Sloan (Phil.1:21)" on the front end page (I believe this may be inscribed to Marc Lyons, another football player). The book is straight, clean and tight with no other handwriting in it, with slight edgewear from shelving. The price intact dustjacket is clean, crisp and bright with some fading to the spine and some small edge chips and tears. Steve Sloan is himself a continuing part of college football history (as are several others who signed the sheets). Mr. Sloan was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2000. Steve Sloan's biography, from an internet page about him: In both 1960 and 1961, Steve Sloan was selected to the All-State football and basketball teams. In 1961, he signed with the University of Alabama, where he enjoyed an outstanding career earning All-American honors in 1965 and guided his team to a national title. That same year, he earned Southeastern Conference MVP honors and was an Academic All-American. His first head coaching position was with Vanderbilt University (1973-74), earning him SEC Coach of the Year honors his second year. He then became head coach of Texas Tech University (1974-77), and was named Southwest Conference Coach of the Year in 1976. He later had head coaching stints at the University of Mississippi and Duke University. Sloan served as athletic director at the University of Alabama from 1987-89, and served in that capacity at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and finally at UT-Chattanoo ga before retiring from football in 2006.
