[with:] 15pp. proof copy of the same pamphlet. Self-wrappers. Wrappers dust soiled, bit tanned. Good, with ink notes. [with:] 4pp. a.l.s. Undated. Folded. Good. The only edition of this scarce pamphlet, captioned "[A few copies only privately printed.]" on the first page of text. This work was compiled by Judge Falconer, best known for his participation in the Texas Santa Fe Expedition of 1842 and his account of that expedition which was appended to the seventh edition of Kendall's famous NARRATIVE OF THE TEXAN SANTA FE EXPEDITION. He also represented Canada in 1850 in arbitrations regarding the boundary between New Brunswick and Canada, was the colonial secretary of Western Australia, and the author of many books. The present pamphlets list publications by the various Falconers, issued to 1866. The NUC locates only one copy, at the NYPL. The a.l.s. included here was written by Alexander Falconer to his sister, Henrietta, and concerns politics, Thomas Falconer and family matters, and the theatre.
octavo : A book whose page size is approximately 12 inches by 9 inches. The size is based on a sheet of paper 25 inches by 38 inches, the size of paper traditionally used by book printers, which has been cut into eight pages.
