Year of Decision: Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1960by Mason, Philip
London, England, U.K: Oxford University Press, 1960. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. This book was written during the transition from colonialism to independence in Africa; the author recounts the discussion both in Britain and in Rhodesia which led to the formation of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland and the arguments for and against the Federation; he describes the problems that confronted the Federation, the reactions they provoked, and how they were met; he contrasts the progress made with the ground still to be covered and indicates the African reactions; the book is written with a perception of the dilemma in which the European in Rhodesia were placed, and the resentment felt by the Africans (maroon waxed cloth with gold lettering, pages slightly tanned; white dust jacket, slightly rubbed and edge worn; otherwise a good, clean copy)
