Berlin: The Continental Times Co, 1915 Book. Good. Soft cover. 1915, Good/Fair Condition: See Notes, Softcover, 78 pp NOTES ON CONDITION Top & Bottom Spine Damaged Cover Discoloured: See Photo T]hese articles were written before the war began. They are in a sense prophetic and show a remarkable understanding of the conditions which brought about the present great war in Europe.'. By [Sir] Roger Casement, former British consul who supported the cause of Irish Nationalism and was executed for treason in 1916, having attempted to enlist German support for an uprising in Ireland. Series of articles, largely written in 1913-1914, that seek to lay the blame for the impending European conflict on Britain's imperial policies. Published first in Berlin in 1915 and soon after in still-neutral America as anti-Allied propaganda, the work circulated in Ireland under false covers to avoid censorship, having been banned in Britain. The German's translated the work into French and brought out another edition in occupied Brussels in 1916.

London: Thornton Butterworth Limited, 1923. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. This is a six-volume British first edition, first printing set of Winston Churchills history of the First World War in which he played such a critical, controversial, and varied role. Sets thus, in dust jackets, are an elusive prize. When these volumes were published, between 1923 and 1931, booksellers often discarded the dust jackets. Even those spared by booksellers often did not survive. Mere presence of the jackets commands attention; this particular set is compelling, the jackets in superior condition to those in the precious few full sets we have been able to offer over the years. Of particular note, the 1911-1914 jacket is the first issue, with a blank rear face that does not advertise subsequent volumes in the series, and the exceptionally scarce Eastern Front jacket and the two 1916-1918 dust jackets so prone to brittleness and fragmentation are substantially complete and in one piece.
