[Washington? 1812].. 8pp. Dbd. Bit tanned, else very good. A statement of facts relative to the intrigues of one John Henry, who soon after arriving in the United States aboard a British vessel made his way to Washington, dined with the President, and after a few days received $50,000 from the Treasury. Apparently Henry disclosed some valuable piece of information to the administration, for which he was paid a huge amount for the time. This pamphlet lays out a number of "facts" in the matter, which seems to relate to valuable information on the intentions of the British government. It also prints depositions by people who saw Henry while he was in the United States. It all points to a plot of some kind, and a congressional committee of today would have a ball with such a tale, but the onset of the War of 1812 (perhaps related?) seems to have swept it under the rug. Intriguing. SHAW & SHOEMAKER 25389.
