[Montreal]. 1855.. 24pp. plus plate. Original printed wrappers. Wrappers sunned, crudely mounted, front bit chipped. Marginal stain, some tanning. Good. In cloth slipcase, leather label. An account of the siege and fall of Quebec, by a nun who worked as a nurse in the Ursuline Hospital. A good first-hand narrative, written in 1765, here in the second edition, after the first of 1840. chipped : A defect in which small pieces missing from the edges.
sunned : The affected portion of the book has been discolored from exposure to the sun.
plate : Full page illustration or photograph. Plates are printed separately from the text of the book, and bound in at production. I.e., they are not sewn as parts of gatherings.
