Portrait frontispiece of Hardy, by William Strang, in Volume 1. Bound in publisher's blue cloth with extra gilt to spine and gilt medallions to upper, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Generally a clean, bright set with just light occasional wear and some minor foxing to note; near fine. The paper bears the watermark of Hardy's initials, title pages and colophons printed in black and red. An attractive example of the definitive set of Hardy's works.
