THE MAGAZINE OF MAGAZINES by Owen, W. [publ]:
Description
[London]. November 1750.. [369]-463,[1]pp. plus two folding engraved maps. Original blue printed wrappers. Wrappers detached and somewhat chipped, else very good and crisp. This issue of Owen's MAGAZINE OF MAGAZINES includes an account of Canada and the concluding part of "An entertaining Account of an Adventure in America." Of greatest interest, however, are the two handsome American maps: A MAP OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE IN AMERICA, FROM THE HEAD OF HUDSON'S BAY TO THE SOUTHERN BOUNDS OF GEORGIA, WITH THE INTERVENTION OF CANADA and A MAP OF PART OF THE ISTHMUS OF DARIEN, WHEREON IS TRACED THE ADVENTURERS EXPEDITON.
wrappers : Paperback or softbound. Also, wraps.
chipped : A defect in which small pieces missing from the edges.
crisp : A term often used to indicate a book's new-like condition. Indicates that the hinges are not loosened. A book described as crisp will not have 'well-read' pages, i.e., where the book will naturally open to certain pages or sections.
