Ghost story where the reader is challenged to determine if the protagonist, a nameless governess, is reliably reporting events or instead is some kind of neurotic with an overheated imagination. The Colophon states, 'This edition of The Turn of the Screw composed in Monotype Centaur to the design of Erica Marx was printed at the Western Printer's Press at Bristol while the drawings by Mariette Lydis were reproduced by the Cotswold Publishing Company at Wotton-Under-Edge and finised under stress and difficulty during the warring months of July-September 1940.' Erica Marx founded the Hand and Flower Press at her home in Aldington, Kent in 1940. This is the first production of the press. Printed on Barcham Green hand made paper in an issue of 200 copies. CONDITION Beige marbled paper to bds with Pink cloth spine (slightly silverfished to paper at bottom edge, cnrs bumped else unworn) pp 138 with nice full page illus.ISBN: 0000000000.
