The very first page is for personalization, so that the book could well serve as a special gift to a child. The author is a Franciscan priest, a conventual (OFM, Conv.). He knows how to write in a simple, direct way, so that any child who is beginning to read can understand and enjoy what is written. The Franciscan conventuals, including the author, are the most monastic of the various Franciscan religious communities. Father Jude has written other books of this nature, and he does a great job.
