Overbury was famously murdered by poison in the Tower of London in 1613, the result of a scandalous poem. One of an edition of 100 copies. This is a posthumous collection of poems published three years after Eugen von Kahler's death in 1911, as a remembrance by his friends. (Eugen's cousin was writer Erich von Kahler). On the page after the title page is printed the word "fur", in this copy it is followed in pen by, "Efraim und Fega Frisch" who were writers and editors (Neue Merkur etc). also, in this copy the poem on Page 15 has had a typo corrected in ink- the name has been changed to 'Miriam' in every instance, including the table of contents at rear. Eugen was best known as a painter (posthumously exhibited in the Blaue Reiter show). Condition of the book is VERY GOOD; Light toning and soiling to covers, title page has toned rectangle offsetting from frontis photo, other than noted corrections, text is very clean, binding is tight. Bookplate of Victor Lange on front pastedown. Text in German Rgr Rare.
