A good +, clean, hardcover overall with moderate shelf wear, light general soiling to green cloth, the start of fraying at the corners and at ends of backstrip, front hinge cracked but not broken and binding is solid, paper cream white, with foxing to the endpapers and fore-edges.

A good plus copy overall, generally clean with minor shelf wear, BUT with exterior soiling, and with damp staining which is visible on the cover and the rear endpaper (but not the interior), spine slightly canted, but binding tight, paper light to moderately yellowed with light foxing at both endpapers as well as evidence of silverfish eating lunch at the lower fore-corner of the title page (a tattering of small holes). A good plus copy overall with general shelf wear and rubbing, hinges splitting and chipping, fore-corner tips through to boards; internal binding solid, paper lightly yellowed with light scattered foxing throughout.

Octavo, 8 2/3" tall, 572 pages plus index, 3/4 leather over marbled boards. A fair, generally clean, hard cover with significant shelf wear and rubbing, back strip missing covers loose, light exterior soiling BUT significant foxing to the fore-edges, binding broken, several signatures loosened, previous owner's names on endpapers, interior clean, paper light to moderately yellowed with foxing to the endpapers and fore-edges.

A very good minus over all, generally sturdy neat and square original hard cover edition with moderate shelf wear and rubbing at the corners, hinges and binding solid, paper light to moderately yellowed with some scattered foxing (primarily at the endpapers) with a previous owner's inscription on the front endpaper, fore-edge gilt wearing thin.

Octavo, 8 1/2" tall, viii + 469 pages, three-quarter black leather over marbled boards; gilt title on spine. A good hardcover overall with moderate shelf wear, hinges and binding tight, paper clean, lightly yellowed, and with minor sporadic foxing primarily to the endpapers and fore-edges; and with apparent dampstaining at the top and bottom fore-edge margins but which does not affect text.

Boston, Massachusetts: Pilgrim Press, [ 1903 ]. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. This appears to be the actual first edition of this religious classic. The only date given is in the author's introduction as 'October 1903.' A note at the back announces the author's next book as "The Love Watch," which "will appear in two numbers in The Congregationalist early in 1904 and will be issued in booklet foin time for Lenten use." All the other early editions of this title we have found have the 1904 date or later. Duodecimo, 6 3/4" tall, 14 pages + [1], gilt titles on decorative white leatherette. A very good, clean, sturdy hard cover with moderate shelf wear, light exterior soiling, and light rubbing at the cover edges; saddle sewn binding tight, paper lightly yellowed. Still a pretty book.
