Shedd Aquarium is situated at the foot of Twelfth Street in Grant Park on the shore of Lake Michigan . . . The building was completed in the fall of 1929 and the last section of the exhibits was opened to the public in June of the following year . . . Radiating from the Rotunda are the six main galleries, each ninety feet long and thirty feet wide, which contain a total of 132 exhibition tanks.
