Greek Urban Warriors, Resistance & Terrorism 1967 - 2014

By Kiesling, John Brady

Athens: Lycabettus Press (New - will be sent to you direct from the publisher in Greece) U.S. diplomat John Brady Kiesling became a public figure in 2003 with his resignation letter to Colin Powell protesting the folly of U.S. Administration policy in Iraq. With a new MA in ancient history and archaeology at U.C. Berkeley, he joined the State Department in 1983. After service in Tel Aviv, Casablanca, Athens, Yerevan, and Washington, his final assignment was as chief of the Political Section at U.S. Embassy Athens from 2000-2003. He and his colleagues were watching closely when 17 November, the notorious terrorist group that murdered twenty-three people, including five of his U.S. mission colleagues, was rounded up in 2002. This book was begun in 2007 as a short handbook on Greek terrorism based on official accounts. It turned into a multi-year research project, an attempt to disentangle the lies and wishful thinking of Greek urban guerrillas and the people pursuing them. Fluent in ancient and modern Greek, Kiesling watched the 17N appeals trial, interviewed key participants, waded through masses of archival material, and used computer software and painstaking deduction to reconstruct the secret history of the Greek armed revolutionary movement.. 1st Greek Edition. Softcover. New Book from Greece.

I Krisi, i Aristera, i Exousia: I Megali Proklisi

By Papakonstantinou, Petros

Athens: Livanis, 2013. Can the left lead Greece from the dark tunnel of economic disaster and national degradation...? This is the central question that concerns Petros Papaconstantinou in his new book. He rejects the orthodox interpretation of the crisis, which loads all the blame on the "wasteful State" and "lazy Greeks" and Keynesian interpretations only implicate the golden boys and the "casino capitalism". He argues that the Greek tragedy is the local expression of an historic crisis of global capitalism. Considers that from the perspective of the system is not smooth, peaceful exit from the recession years, only the "solution" of merciless class war and authoritarian states of emergency. It proposes to build a united front of labor, with the catalytic contribution of all the Left warring forces, to enable a secular, democratic subversion, towards the socialist transformation. Considers that urgent strategic and programmatic rearmament of the left, before closing, perhaps for decades the historical window of opportunity that the crisis opened. What kind of initiatives needed to broad, popular, democratic movement the last three years to gain impetus and winning perspective power? Are there left any policy responses to the crisis in the interests of workers within the binding framework of the Eurozone? What changes should be initiated at a very difficult internal and international conditions will inherit a left People's Alliance government not to prove short-lived ... parenthesis? What is the content of socialist change in the era of multinationals, of mass unemployment and impending environmental Armageddon?. Softcover. New Book from Greece.

Troika : O Dromos Tin Katastrophe

By Ignatiou, Michalis

Athens: Ekdotikos Organismos Livani, 2015. The "rescue" of Greece through documents of IMF, the Americans and the European Commission and the tragic responsibilities of Greek politicians. On Saturday, November 21, 2009 five officials of the European Commission, the Eurogroup, the ECB and the Greek Government, accompanied by their staff gathered in the office of Prime Minister of Luxembourg ...under the inviolable condition never to disclose ...this the secret meeting. ..... Attended by the head of the ECB Jean-Claude Trichet, Commissioner Joaquim Almunia, the Greek Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou and the governor of the Bank of Greece George Provopoulos. For the secret meeting informed proven source of the Eurogroup, then chaired by Mr. Juncker, and confirmed to me by Mr. Papakonstantinou, who told me that during the "Our measures applied to reduce the 2010 deficit (of course, not 2009). Especially," he said, "the ECB insisted very large reduction ( spoke for 4-5 units). Finally we put the budget reduction of 3.6 units, with additional measures in January were 4 points, "said the then finance minister. That day, Messrs. Juncker, Trichet and Almunia sent in Mr. Papandreou a "mini Memorandum". It was their proposal to end the crisis in the bud. Then Prime Minister never answered them. And Greece was led to destruction ... Researching the Greek debt crisis, increasingly concluded that the country had the misfortune to fall into the hands of leaders who have been unable either to understand the dimensions of the crisis that exploded in their hands or to manage it.To write this book I spoke to 139 people: officials of the Greek government, the IMF, the US government, FED, ECB and European Commission. I also had the good fortune to read documents of IMF, the US Embassy in Athens and the European Commission.543p. . 1st Greek Edition. French Wraps. New Book from Greece.

It raises and answers, challenging questions, such as: - Why the British colonialists invaded Australia, not the Aboriginal to England? - When and how was born the primacy of profit? - Why there would never be wealth without debt? - Where arises the outrageous power of bankers? - What lies behind the financial crises? - There is hope mankind will cease to function as a fool virus that kills the organism in which he lives? - What is money and why has "need" democracy? As author himself says: "Although not focused on Greek everyday last, sad years, the book discusses the major issues of the social economy that reach all people, everywhere, but in a way that whoever reader ..can ....see ...with different eyes the recent collapse of the Greek economy in the midst of a Europe in crisis, in a world that is unable to balance.
