Original blue binding with gilt emblem of crown and swan to all three volumes, unusually this has, tipped-in to the title page of volume 1, part of an envelope addressed to Lady Ponsonby, dated 1839, franked 'Free No. 5' (see below*) and apparently signed by Greville; all three volumes show signs of wear and marking, with bumped corners, wear and fraying to the spine, browned and dusty edges, internally generally all are sound and in good condition; in volume 1 there is a brown stain to the edges of the front pastedown and front free endpaper, which extends diagonally all across the fore-edge at the top, bleeding minimally to the page margins.
