Inside are a list of peope wiith addresses and the gifts given - when received and when thanked. It is fun to see what was a typical gift back them. A great something old for a new bride! The Demarests and Popes were old Bergen county New Jersey families and can be tracked online. The addresses also give you an idea of the New York neighbohoods at that time.. This is what is written on the back of the title page. This is copy numbered 10. The unique aspect of this book is that one of the authors, Henry B. Dawson, signed that page and numbered the edition - plus on the facing page he wrote "The New Jersey Historical Society with the respects of Henry B. Dawson" - in beautiful 19th century script. Dawson was according to my research on the internet an immigrant from England who fell in love with american histroy. He became a newspaper editor and journalist but was known in the end as an historian.
