Illustration index with 50+ entries of mostly b/w photos, 5 from Captain Leon Dabo paintings. MISSING the 5 maps called for in index. FINE between the covers, including both pastedowns, BUT the text block edges are very lightly foxed. ALSO, book stays closed when stood on its spine. Read with care, if at all. Very nice cover. No spine sunning. Gilt on covers bright as new. Spine ends scuffed a tad but tips square & flat. .

Bkplt but no wear, aging, foxing, marginalia, etc. DJ clean & attractive but worn. . Book stays closed when stood on spine, so: read with care, if at all. Text block edges with three 1/4" soiled spots. This & bkplt book's only flaws. DJ as bright and clean as new but with several 1/2" chips & one at 1". Millus was a 30 year editorial writer for the New York Herald Tribune which was known for its coverage of international news. Before it folded in 1966 it had won 12 Pulitzer prizes. This book is not a history of the US invovlement in WWI but the history of HOW we got involved. Book ends when we declared war. MIllis was much AGAINST our getting involved.
