The US (Whitman) version of this book was published in 1949, and acknowledgement is noted on the Tuck copyright page - rear of the front cover. Pictorial paper boards. Stapled - very slightly rusty - but only seen in the centre double fold - negligible. In the Tiny Tales Series - numbered TT1001 on the bottom of the rear cover No Inscriptions or marks inside. 20 pp. Illustrated in full colour by Louise Myers. Each number has an Animal illustration and accompanying verse. "Three Little Kittens, Climb up a Tree, See them jump down again - One-Two -Three." . There are No Inscriptions, but there is a stamp to the blank reverse of the front free endpaper = 'Dyfed County Library', which itself is overstamped with an oval 'Cardiganshire C P School' stamp. Moral, temperance and educational prose and poetry. Very like the Moral Tracts, but expanded. Including narrative, anecdotes, fiction and "varieties". Grubby/stained dark brown cloth covered boards, crease to front board. Corners and head/tail of spine knocked. 4 stamped bands to spine with dulled gilt titling. Stains to endpapers. Previous owners names written to endpapers. Inner hinges splitting. Intermittant foxing spots here and there but Vol XXII has much darker foxing than rest of pages. Page edges browning with age.
