Bright and tight with clean interior. Dust jacket has light sunning on spine and a small scuff at top of front hinge. Two small closed tears on top edge and light chipping on corners.Now in protective cover.

Cited in Adams' "Thundering Herd" #979. 253 pp. Front end paper also has previous owner's name stamped near bottom edge. Book has a right lean with moderate wear to edgesr. Rear end paper has list of page #s with subjects of interest, i.e., "116 Stampede" or "124 Cowboy bedroll". Many penciled notations throughout, and opens to signature pp 176-177. Signed by him on half title page. Hiram Chamberlain was a Presbyterian minister who brought the first protestant church to the lower Rio Grande region of Texas. His daughter, Henrietta King, tassumed ownership of the King Ranch after her husband, Richard's death in 1885. She increased the size of the ranch,once known as the largest in the world, and saw to the welfare and education of the families who lived on the ranch.
