Established in 1965, Adams Avenue Book Store is a general used bookstore with an inventory of 60,000 books in over 100 subject categories. Only a fraction of our inventory is listed online, so please don\'t hesitate to e-mail or call us if you\'re looking for something you don\'t find here; we\'ll be happy to check our store shelves for you.

The Argonaut Book Shop was founded in 1941 in the middle of the financial district of San Francisco. The Argonaut was a founding member of the Antiquarian Booksellers\' Association of America and has been a member in good standing ever since. The Shop is now located just three blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco and is open six days a week. Parking facilities include ample street space and a parking garage close by. The bookstore occupies two large rooms open to the public. One enters first into a large room with oak flooring and antique bookcases filled with fine and rare books, mostly dealing with the history of California and the American West. This room also includes fine press books and other rare subject matter. The second room is devoted to good books in varied subject areas including art, maritime, American civil war, books on antiques, literature, regional Americana, etc.

BASEMENT BOOKS, located at about 7,000 feet in the mountains east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, specializes in hard-to-find non-fiction, Western Americana, and First Edition mysteries and literature.

Our business was first established as Stone of Scone Antiques in 1976 in Connecticut. About 10 years later, my husband Tom, who had become intrigued with Samuel Colt and Colt Firearms, became a Federally Licensed Firearms dealer. We sold and appraised antique and collectible firearms, hand loading equipment, and ammunition. We also sold the typical antique items. Eventually we became disenchanted with antiques. Being a book lover most of my life, I decided to add books to our shop. We started with one bookcase and within six months we were putting an addition on the shop - just for the books. Then the books started to overflow into the house and we decided to list our books on-line. Therefore, Books by Jan was born. In October 2000, we closed our shop and relocated to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. We purchased a 50-acre mountain and built our semi-retirement log home on the top. We are 2,360\' high with a view of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Jefferson in North Carolina, and Mt. Rogers in Virginia. Daily we watch the deer graze in our front and back yards, peer at the wild turkeys as they devour the grasshoppers and insects, and just simply - enjoy our new home.

Books For You is a brick and mortar store with about 50,000 books, both hardcover and paperback. We have a general stock including a variety of fiction and non-fiction. Only about 2000 of these books are on line.

We specialize in quality out-of-print books. You\'ll find most titles to be in Fine to Very Good condition and all dust jackets covered in mylar wrappers. As an open shop we encourage you to call or write with any questions about our books. Email answered promptly!
