The "Old Phonograph; While the Old Mill Wheel Keeps Turning; Sixty Cars of Freight; Southern Lullaby, Down in the Hills of Tennessee, etc. Note -- Texan Dalhart started as a classical singer, then In the 1920s and 1930s, he sang on more than 5000 singles (78s) for many labels, employing more than 100 pseudonyms. His 1924 rendition of "Wreck of the Old 97" was the highest-selling single in the first 60 years of recording. This collection contains a Dalhart original, "Wreck of the Circus Train" based on a disaster in Indiana in 1919, but it didn't have the success of Old 97 Uncommon. Amazon has never had it. Schirmer's Library and Carl Fischer (1904).. The volume with piano accompaniment is 9x12 paperback folio, 35 pages; the volume for violin only is 13 pages. Themes by Puccine, Rossini, Bellini, Donizettui, Weigel and Mercadante, Ships with cardboard protection. Good: soiled cover on piano volume, with stain on the edge touching edge of most pages; violin book has a few pencil marks on two of the airs (which might even be helpful).

Philadelphia: Westminster Press, [1915] reprint.. Hardcover in green cloth, 9.5", 124 pp. From a wide variety of sources: Blake's Little Lamb Who Made Thee, music attr. Conant; psalms; old English carols; "Where do all the Daisies Go?" with some pre-echoes of Seeger's "flowers"; @150 songs in all. Hymns, Songs for Special Seasons, Processionals and Offertories, Greeting and Farewell Songs, Nature Songs, Wee Songs (i.e. Wrens and Robins in the Hedge), Motion Songs, and Motion Music. Good: clean, all together; front hinge feels a little loose, but not broken; name on free endpaper; text very good.

Dublin: Ossian Publications, 1984.. Folio Paperwraps, 8.5x11.5" tall, 47 pp + introduction, index and ads. 85 airs, first issued in 1913, and probably collected in early 19th century (see the introduction for detail) . About Fine:: clean, straight,unmarked unused.

NY: Southern Music Pub Co., 1937.. Folio paperwraps, 9x12" tall, 64 pp. . . Good only: would be Very good, but the lower 3/8 of the rear cover was missing; repaired by gluing inside the rear cover of a different folio songbook; adds an extra song, but makes page a little stiff. otherwise solid and unmarked.

Peer International, 1942.. Folio paperwraps, 9x12" tall, 64 pp. . . Fair: still solid, and unmarked, but exterior is very rubbed and there were splits in the spine at both ends, (now mended with clear archival book-mending tape); contents very good.

You Are My Sunshine, My Mary (w Stuart Hamblen), Worried Mind, It Makes No Difference Now, Nobody's Darling But Mine, When It's Round Up Time in Heaven, I Told You So!, Walls of White, etc. The biography page on Davis states that he is Police Commissioner in Shreveport, so this would be done before he became Governor of Louisiana. Scarce. Good plus: rubbed along spine, with surface layer peeling back in places but not split anywhere (and I'd be glad to apply archival mending tape if requested to! - near invisible and protective); solid, clean and unmarked, text block very good.

Folio paperwraps, 9x12", 64 pp. Words and music to 50 songs, inc.: Nobody's Darling; Lonely Hobo; Jellyroll Blues; Hold 'er Newt; Arabella Blues; Yo Yo Mama; Home Wreckin' Blues; Shirt-tail Blues; Davis' Salty Dog; Alimony Blues; Midnight Blues; Jealous Lover; etc. . Good: unmarked, clean, some wrinkles. Top staple pulled through cover, a bit of archival mending tape on inside front and rear beside that staple.

A little over half the issue is dedicated to Johnny Gimble material, with a long interview and brief articles and reviews, pages 5 through 32. Ships with cardboard protection. Near Fine: a couple of tiny specks on front cover, 1/4" wrinkle at bottom corner (see photo for both)); clean, straight, solid.

I especially liked the chapter on "story-telling with a single-octave dulcimer" . Condition: Very Good in Fair jacket.
