Minor wear, tanning to front endpapers and half-title from previously laid-in materials, light offsetting from the frontispiece to the title, a few small traces of marginal foxing. The jacket shows small chips to the ends of the spine panel (up to 1 cm deep), several other tiny edge chips, and a little sun to the spine panel. FIRST EDITION. Front wrap shows light foxing and toning and some faint offsetting (from contact with another publication previously stored with this item); uneven marginal browning to rear wrap. A few minuscule edge tears to wraps; tiny chip to the unprinted rear wrap. Central horizontal crease throughout. (One other trade copy we have encountered and the digital reproduction of the Univ. of Iowa copy both have such a crease and it was possibly the result of the distributor folding the pamphlet for mailing.) FIRST EDITION. One of 600 copies, this copy unnumbered. The tenth book of the First Editions Club. Most of the bindings depicted in this volume were made in England or France and the majority date from the 16th and 17th centuries, with one 15th century binding and a few 18th-century examples. Geoffrey Dudley Hobson (1882-1949) was a leading authority on early English bindings and a longtime employee of Sotheby's in London.�

[Terry (1862-1926) was the founder of the Sunbeam Incandescent Light Company and co-founder of the National Electric Lamp Company (N.E.L.A.), which became a subsidiary of General Electric. He was instrumental in the creation of Cleveland's Nela Park.] Spine ends very slightly bumped and rubbed, slight offsetting from Terry's bookplate, still an excellent copy. FIRST EDITION. One of 750 copies, this copy not numbered. Illustrated with numerous photographic plates, including frontispiece. "The following compilation aims to present the `Boston of Holmes,' as set forth by himself. Holmes was the librarian of the William Gwinn Mather Library in Cleveland. His highly respected bibliography of Increase Mather's works was issued in two volumes the following year by Harvard University Press.
