3) The country housewife and lady's director, in the management of a house, and the delights and profits of a farm (Part II only)
Bradley, Richard

The country housewife and lady's director, in the management of a house, and the delights and profits of a farm (Part II only)
London: printed for D. Browne, at the Black-Swan without Temple-Bar; and T. Woodman, in Russel-Street, Covent-Garden, 1732. 1st edition. Modern full leather binding. V.g. /No Jacket. Rebound by Paul Delrue in modern full leather. Title page spotted, stain to part of fore-edge, pages 140-180 wormed at margin (not unattractively). viii, 188, (10) pp. of index, 2 pages of publisher's advertisements at end. This new volume was issued along with the 6th edition of Part 1 of "The country housewife and lady's director" and is often found bound in with it. This is a rare example of a separately bound copy with the black ink title page. It was one of the last books to be published in Bradley's lifetime, and shows some signs of incapacity in the way it is put together. Edmondson 84. more information

13) Honey cookery
Mead, Ruth

Northern Bee Books, Mytholmroyd, n.d. Paper covers. V.g/ No Jacket . V.g. in soiled cover. [3] + 17 pp. Written by the appropriately named Ruth Mead (surely a pseudonym?) this little book interprets the term 'cookery' rather loosely as the recipes include furniture polish, cosmetics and medicinal preparations as well as the more conventional fare. Some of the suggestions are quite adventurous, e.g. 'honey mayonnaise'. The design suggests a c. 1980 date of printing; the ISBN indicates that this was only the second book to be published by Northern Bee Books, now the leading apicultural publisher in the UK. more information

Vaughan, J.G. & Judd, P.A

The Oxford book of health foods
Oxford University Press, 2003. Hard covers, dust jacket. As new/V.g. Nearly new, wrapper sl. creased at top of spine. Foreword by David Bellamy. Written by an emeritus professor of food science at King's College, University of London and a professor of nutrition and dietetics at the University of Central Lancashire, this book follows the traditional format of 'Oxford books of...' and its design closely resembles that of the latest edition of the Oxford Book of Food Plants which shares one of its two authors with the present work. Includes Horsetail, which some think to be distinctly dodgy on account of its high silica content. Perhaps, in view of its nicotine content, it would be safer to smoke it? An up-to-date book that debunks some of the wilder claims of nutripharmacy. xxxiii, 188 pages. more information
