This new volume was issued along with the 6th edition of Part 1 of "The country housewife and lady's director" and is often found bound in with it. This is a rare example of a separately bound copy with the black ink title page. [3] + 17 pp. Written by the appropriately named Ruth Mead (surely a pseudonym?) this little book interprets the term 'cookery' rather loosely as the recipes include furniture polish, cosmetics and medicinal preparations as well as the more conventional fare. Some of the suggestions are quite adventurous, e.g. 'honey mayonnaise'. The design suggests a c. 1980 date of printing; the ISBN indicates that this was only the second book to be published by Northern Bee Books, now the leading apicultural publisher in the UK. more information
