New York: George H. Doran Company Edmund Dulac was a well known illustrator commissioned to create illustrations for special editions of classic stories. His beautiful watercolors grace such stories as: The Tempest, The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, Sinbad the Sailor and other stories from the Arabian Knights. In this book, he collected fairy tales form the nations allied with Britain in The Great War. The book is signed by Dulac under the frontis piece. It is illustrated with sixteen mounted color illustrations which are in wonderful condition. The title page of each tale also has an original line drawing. Tales include: Snegorotchka, Russia; The Buried Moon, England; The Serpent Prince, Italy; The Hind of the Wood, France; The Fire Bird, Russia; Urashima Taro, Japan; The Story of the Bird Feng, China; and several others. Black cloth with gold title and decoration on spine. Gold is extremely faded and rubbed. Very large mounted gold illustration on front board. The book has been repaired expertly at a professional bindery. Rebound in new black cloth with the original cloth glued to front and rear boards and spine. Little of the new cloth is visible.
