A tidy binding in good condition. Blindstamp decoration on the covers. Gilt titling and bands on the spine. 2 corners on the covers neatly repaired at the same time of rebacking. Contains a frontispiece of the author, a double page map of Roman Britain, large woodcut in the text of a Roman urn and a further similar woodcut. Several coin woodcuts. The journies of Antoninus through Britain, situated at the start is an alphabetical index of Roman stations (with English translations). Following this is a fine double page map of the southern part of Britain (W. Hollar Sculp.). Includes a catalogue of authors cited, + index at the rear. Dimensions; 286 by 195 mm.
