1) PRISONERS ALL!
Graf, Oskar Maria

PRISONERS ALL!
No publisher stated, New York:1943 [x; 442; ii] Probably published by the author, a first-person memoir of life in Germany, starting just prior to World War I and continuing through the days of the Weimar Republic. The author, born in Bavaria in 1894, gives a graphic account of a peasant's early domestic life there, then life as an unqualified soldier in World War I, and after as a socialist convert. (In real life, Graf refused war service and was imprisoned, then joined the pacifist movement. The Nazis burned the books of most writers, but they spared those of Graf's, hoping to make of him "a son of the soil." Graf then wrote, "BURN ME TOO!" In 1933, he escaped to Austria, then to Czechoslovakia, and finally to the U.S.A., where he became an American citizen. Graf died in the U.S.A. in 1967.) Beige cloth with brown lettering and decoration on the front cover and spine. A very good copy. No dust jacket. more information
