Union is given as 146 Chestnut Street, which dates this item between 1827 and 1853. Illustrations include: cover art of an old man surrounded by children; woodcut on page 1 of two people in a town street; illustration of an urn on p. 16. Tale of two unfeeling little girls who learn a lesson in charity and bearing up under one's sufferings in this life for the sake of Christ. Wrap splitting at lower portion of spine. Author uncredited, but listed as Mary Elliott in various catalogs of earlier printings. Ad for publisher's other wares listed on back wrap. A poem of appreciation from a sister to her brother. Also included are the poems 'Poor Old Horse,' 'The Bible,' 'Morning Prayer for a Child,' and 'Evening Prayer for a Child.' Wraps fraying at spine, stitching coming loose.
