Published for the authors by S. Tuttle, New York: 1844 First edition, 23.5cm, double frontispiece ("BATTLE OF PRINCETON" and "VICTORY AT TRENTON"), title page decorated with the arms of New Jersey, 11 additional full-page plates plus the "Plan of Broad Street, Newark Showing Buildings and Occupants, ca. 1796," and 112 additional text illustrations. This copy has the plate facing page 266 "COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY, AT PRINCETON, N.J." and facing page 288 "FRONT VIEW OF THE STATE PRISON AT TRENTON." Facing page 388, this copy has "WASHINGTON at Trenton, N.J. January 2d, 1777," engraved by A. Daggett from the original painting by Col. Trumbull. 4to, 512 pages, 10 lines of "errors and omissions. First edition of the third history of New Jersey according to Felcone (Felcone 352). Rebound in modern beige cloth with gilt lettering on the spine with date 1844. Page edges marbled. This copy is signed in pencil twice by New Jersey photographer-historian Elizabeth G.C. Menzies, once on the front fly leaf, and she signed and dated her book a second time on the back of the first frontispiece dating it 1963. The full-page plates are browning, and there is scattered foxing throughout. Some dampstaining of the lower right-hand corners of the first third of the book.
