Den fuldkomne fisker [The compleat angler]
Martins Forlag, 1943. 1st Danish edition. Rebound in quarter calf with raised bands and gilt tooling. Fine/No Jacket. Coigney no. 348. Elegantly bound example of the first Danish edition of "The compleat angler", edited by Poul Hauton. One of the 1500 un-numbered copies (there was also a limited issue of 1000 copies which included a list of subscribers, absent from this copy). Issued to mark the 350th birthday of Izaak Walton on August 9, 1943 in a quietly subversive gesture by bibliophiles (and anglophiles?) in Nazi-occupied Denmark. Bound in quarter calf with marbled boards, all edges marbled, enclosing the original card covers with silvered fish on front and (?hand-coloured) kingfisher on rear. This is a translation of the fifth edition, and it contains many vignettes, chapter headings and illustrations (by Ib Andersen). (5), vi-xxxvii, (38), 402, (3) pp. more information

11) The complete angler of Walton and Cotton
Walton, Izaak; Cotton, Henry; edited by Charles Hill Dick

The complete angler of Walton and Cotton
Walter Scott Ltd., London, n.d. [1895]. 1st Scott edition, a reprint of the 5th edition (parts 1 & 2 only) of 1676. . Hard covers, no dust jacket. Fair/No Jacket. Has evidently been used for some serious angling; muddy water-stains at several points in the text, front hinge starting, spine worn at extremities. Still, an intact copy of Coigney no. 171, which might appeal to an extremely tolerant collector as the edition is fairly scarce in good condition. The unpaginated advertisements are present at the rear, concluding with 'Mr George Moore's New Novel'. xx, 245, (22) pp. more information
