Living Architecture : Mayan (association copy with Linda Schele)
Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers New York, 1964 An important, if common, title in somewhat abused condition, what sets this copy apart is its association with groundbreaking Mayan scholar Linda Schele. Her bookplate from the University of Texas Libraries is on the front paste down endpaper, her stamp from her time in Alabama is on the front free endpaper (and again on page 85), just above her private embossed library stamp. This was obviously a book that she carried with her for many years as she gained in prominance in her field. The dustjacket is frayed with losses (although now encased in a Mylar jacket protector). The binding is loose and cracked. But the content is present, and one can only imagine that the numerous black and white illustrations herein were an inspiration for the genius that was to emerge decades later that revealed the bloody truth behind what had been thought of as a mild culture.. Cloth. Fair/Fair. more information
