As new condition other than very light corner wear, small remainder mark spine end bottom. Otherwise clean & unmarked. The illustrated graphic novel version of this Tolkien classic, profuse colour illustrations. 138 pages. Review: "... A fairly complete adapatation -- even Beorn is here! As for artwork, I always measure Tolkien art by the depiction of the hobbits, and Gandalf, and Wenzel does a fine job IMO. (His pictures are quite different from the cover art. ) The hobbits aren't the best I've ever seen, but they're not freakish either, and the dwarves and Gandalf and the elves and the settings are all quite nice. This would be of interest to a Tolkien collector, a fun read for graphic novel fans, and a nice introduction to the Tolkien canon for wee folk..."; 4to 11" - 13" tall . more information

AROUSING SENSATION A Case Study of Controversy Surrounding Art and the Erotic
Alberta: Banff Centre Press. New. 1999. First Edition. Softcover. 0920159826 . Softcover is new and unread, no markings, slight shelfwear to corners. 145 pages. "This publication was developed following a controversial exhibit that appeared at the Walter Phillips Gallery in 1992. In Much Sense: Erotics and Life, the artists explored ideas about sexuality, expressing frank viewpoints on topics such as body image and gay and lesbian sexuality. In the months following the opening, politicians, the media, and coalitions of arts organizations engaged in a rancorous debate, alternately battering and boosting The Banff Centre and its support of the exhibition. Arousing Sensation supports freedom of expression for both sides of the controversy, with full text media clippings chronicling a public debate about freedom of expression, funding for the arts, censorship, sexuality, political responsibility, and journalistic integrity. The book offers a unique case study of the role the media plays in public debates. " (*Shipping will be reduced after checkout) [osl]; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall . more information
