Hachette Litterature, 5 Avril 1974 Preface d'Alain Gottvalles, [201 pages; ii]. First edition, paper-bound, as issued with colored illustrated cartoon wrapper. This copy effusively inscribed by the author incorporating the title into the inscription, signed, and rededicated in ink to Stefan Thomas Possony (1913-1995): "Pour Monsieur Possony qui sait ... si bien [Nager en 10 Lecons] avec et sans tuba ... et dans la politique -- Bien respectueusement et sportivement - Pierre Gruneberg." And, on the dedication page, which has a printed dedication "... Silvia [Silvia Monfort, the author's comedienne wife]," the author adds this enigmatic manuscript dedication: "(Monfort) / Carr� de la Gait�./(M) R�aumur S�bastopol." Stefan Thomas Possony, author of THE STRATEGY OF TECHNOLOGY, the Political Studies Director at the Hoover Institution, a civilian strategic planner in the Pentagon, and a professor at Georgetown University, was "the intellectual father of starwars," also known as the Strategic Defense Initiative, an extension Of George Kennan's Cold War strategy of containment as "assured survival." Himself an expatriate German Jew, Possony fled from the Nazis by fleeing to Western Europe, first to France then to Oran and then to the United States. Gruneberg's parents were forced to flee to the Soviet Union, where Stalin put them in a labor camp. This is a profusely illustrated book by the man who taught President Kennedy's children how to swim. His method is to conquer fear of the water by starting on dry land putting the face in a bowl of water. The text is in French. The condition is fine. more information
