1) Swimming With Crocodiles: A True Story of Adventure and Survival
Chaffey, Will

Arcade Publishing, 2009. Hardcover with dust jacket. First edition. AS NEW. 312 pages; 16 pages of color photos; 6.5 x 9.5 inches. Publisher's press release laid in. Chaffey was 18 when he went to Australia. He and a fellow adventurer devised a plan to explore the Prince Regent River, Australia's Grand Canyon, in a trek so dangerous it had never been attempted before. Passing through harsh, primeval country, shadowed by Aborigines whose sacred sites they may have violated, and physically worn down, their food ran out and, unable to leave, they were stalked by a hungry crocodile. Filled with detail about Australia's sometimes deadly wildlife, it is at once the account of a journey into adulthood and an epic of survival. FREE SHIPPING within the US by Media Mail. From the publisher: Australian artist Bill Henson is a passionate and visionary explorer of twilight zones, of the ambiguous spaces that exist between day and night, nature and civilization, youth and adulthood, male and female. His photographs of landscapes at dusk, of the industrial no-man's land that lies on the outskirts of our cities, and of androgynous girls and boys adrift in the nocturnal turmoil of adolescence are painterly tableaux that continue the tradition of romantic literature and painting in our post-industrial age. Nudes. Stunningly gorgeous reproductions. FREE SHIPPING, insurance and tracking within the US by Priority Mail. Careful and secure packaging. more information

4) Kontinente: Australien Asien Afrika Europa Amerika
Hutte, Axel - Photographs; Text and poetry by Cees Nooteboom

Kontinente: Australien Asien Afrika Europa Amerika
Munich: Schirmer/Mosel, 2000. Oversized cloth bound hardback in dj. First edition. Fine in a fine dj, protected by a mylar cover. 156 pages; 34 full-page, color photographs; 11.5 x 14 inches. Text in German. SIGNED BY HUTTE in pencil on the half title page. These photographs show a remarkable diversity of landscape. The views of nature that Hutte captures are vividly animate and seductive, but ultimately allow nature to remain sovereign and at a distance. They alternate between a poetic peacefulness and a darker, edgier ambience. Optical precision and a lucid observation of the world are what characterize his photography. He was born in 1951 in Essen, Germany. Between 1973 and 1981 he studied with Bernd Becher. Hutte first became known for his sober, clinical look at post-war German architecture.
