Racine, Wisconsin, U.S.A.: Golden Press, 1983. Second Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Wilkin, Eloise. This book, beautifully illustrated by Eloise Wilkin, is a Golden Sturdy Shape Book. It shows a little boy going through the morning, getting up, washing his face and brushing his teeth, dressing himself (with Daddy's help), going to breakfast that Mom has made, all with his dog that sleeps by his bed. Mom brushes his hair and checks his nails, then he is free to go outside and play with his dog and cat. 12 illustrated boards; the last board is bumped at the bottom, and at the top the glossy part is coming off the board just a bit, as it is with the top front. 12) Prayers for Children

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1952. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Wilkin, Eloise. #205, "A". The roundfaced little children on the front of the cover are adorable. Several children's prayers are presented, including a Morning Prayer, A Child's Grace (3 versions), A Great Gray Elephant, A Child's Prayer, The Gift, and several more. The last page is mostly torn out - at least the "A" was still intact! This is a most beautifully illustrated book and is special for that reason alone. The binding front corners are worn through, the back corners lightly worn. There is light shelf wear on the bottom and wear at the spine ends. The bottom end a tiny bit lifted in the back. The silver foil is intact. The inside boards are also decorated. All of the pages except the one mentioned, are clean with no marks or tears. The nameplate has 2 names written in ink. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

New York: Golden Press, 1950. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Malvern, Corinne. #142, 25 cents. C.1950, 1951. Frosty appeared as a song in 1950 and from there was adapted to a story. The inside page says "This is a brand new book written and illustrated especially for Golden Books." Frosty appears even in places where it's too warm to snow or too cold to make a snowman of one's own. He plays with children after they deck him out, and what fun they have while he's there! This book is worn around the corners and along the edges. The title page is torn about half way up. The second and third page each have a tear about an inch up from the bottom. The fifth page has about a 2" tear, the seventh about an inch, the next three pages have about 1/2" tears at the bottom and the last page is fine. All of the tears are clean, no folding over etc. The illustrations are beautiful, most tears are no where near the illustrations. The spine is curling up about 1/2" from the bottom and is missing about 1" from the top. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

He talks with many animals along the way, but doesn't find suitable accomodations until he finds another bunny! The binding front is very scuffed, with wear at the corners, and lighter wear at the edges. The silver spine is in a vine pattern. The back binding has some scuffing. The pages are almost all fine, fully illustrated. The last right-hand page has some light brown spots on it (that really look as though they belong) and the inside back binding also has light brown smudges. So he sends all the other animals away who nibble at carrots or catch fish; one day the rabbits go visiting and he is left to make do himself. He couldn't make the stew, and the monkey he knew tried and tried to make it like the rabbits did. Cover has slight wear on edges and corners, a vertical scratch on the front board. The binding is scuffed on the front and the silver spine is somewhat scuffed, though completely intact. The title page has someone's initials on it, and at the inside edge a 1 1/2" tear at the top. He became restless just sitting in the toy store, so the owner brought him home. He wanted to be in water, but didn't like the bathtub; he liked the creek. It moved fast and in no time Scuffy was out of sight, while the water grew deeper and wider. The edges of the boards are lightly worn. Both ends of the spine are worn to the cardboard at the very ends. There is a label ghost at the top right.The back spine board is lightly worn the full vertical length. The inside of each board is yellow with a black picture of the town where Scuffy lives. Unpaginated, but the pages are all very bright and clean - no spots. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. more information

A very funny story about a train named Tootle, that was going to locomotive school and practicing all day. The most important lesson was "Stay on the Tracks, No Matter What." The binding is bright. The corners are worn lightly and moderately. One has a small piece missing. The top front edge is worn, and has a bump about 1" from the spine. The front hinge has a 1" tear near the top and a 1" tear at the bottom. The binding over the spine is worn in the front, cracked from the bottom up about 1 1/4" and pulled away at the top about 1 1/4". Some of the early pages have small spots on them near the bottom. Most of the pages are clean; no tears or writing on the pages. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

The binding has two spots on the front - both near the spine. Illustrations are many and beautiful - nature scenes. 240 pages, including Table of Contents located in the back. Pages lightly tanned, cutting on the book was not exact so some of the text pages have a bit of an illustration at one end. 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. more information

New York: Golden Press, 1959. No Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Polgreen, John. This book is part of the Golden Library of Knowledge. Written in the 1950's (but I believe this particular copy was printed in the early 1960's) it contains some wonderful information about the moon, space flight, and even a space station. The development of rockets and their different stages of burn are included, as is a chapter on spacemen. Although a great deal of the information is fairly accurate, the illustrations look as though they came from a science fiction book. 54 including an index. The index page is missing two areas, one rather large; all other pages are fine. The binding has moderate wear at the top corners and heavy wear at the bottom corners. The spine head is heavily worn, the tail is moderately worn, and there is wear at the front and back bottom gutter. The pages are tight; this is a fun book to read! Great gift for your favorite rocket scientist! 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

Racine, WI: Whitman Publishing, 1969. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. Hauge, Carl and Mary. A Tell-a-Tale book, #2558. Lazy Fox dreamed that Red Hen would make a wonderful meal with dumplings. One day he woke up especially hungry, grabbed a sack and went to red hen's home where he hid inside her house. When she came in he caught her. On the way back to his home he decided to stop for a nap, so red hen escaped and caused lazy fox so much misery that he was too lazy to try to catch red hen again. The binding is worn at all corners and there is a horizontal scratch near the bottom of the front, about 3/4 of the way across. The binding is clean, and the pages are clean and bright. So he decides to go for a walk and runs into several different animals. He asks each "where do you live?" but get no answer, and follows them to see where their homes are. Illustrations are very colorful, using outdoor colors (not gaudy). The binding is worn at edges and along the bottom. The cloth is clean and bright, with a picture of animals and leaves in yellow and brown and the green of the cover. Unpaginated, the pages are clean and bright. The most minor of ex-lib markings, no big stamps, just a letter D on the title page and penned in catalog data with the copyright information. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information
