A Carnival of Animals
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Greenwillow Books, 2000. First Edition. Hard Cover. New/New. Hafner, Marylin. For ages 7 and up. A no-account little tornado comes twirling along. It means no great harm, but for the animals in the shadow of Barefoot Mountain life will never be the same. A 400-pound hog finds a wind-tossed harmonica and learns to play. Emperor Floyd, a wild rooster, is frightened into insomnia and keeps everyone awake by crowing in the middle of the night. Stumblefrog discovers a sack of Mexican jumping beans left in the path of the twister, and guess what happens? Most curious of all, the storm drops a "strange little animal, all pink skin and bones, lying in a heap against a hollow log." Its fur or feathers have been plucked clean by the tornado, and no one can guess what the nature of odd animal the "Windblown Child" is. Everyone is in for a huge and wondrous surprise! In these six broad comedies, Newbery Medal winner Sid Fleischman again proves himself to be a wizard of the American tall tale. 48 pages, fully illustrated in color. The cover is a glossy pictorial. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

Goblins!: A Survival Guide and Fiasco in Four Parts
New York: Harry N Abrams Inc, 2004. First Printing. Hard Cover. New/No Jacket. Froud, Brian; Froud, Wendy. This collaboration of Ari Berk (text) and Brian and Wendy Froud (art and 3D goblinizations) produced a truly odd and humorous volume. Throughout the book are wonderful 'photographs' of goblins and information about their habits, their history, and themselves. Unfortunately, some of the goblins got hold of the manuscript and in a big, red crayon changed some of the wording here, added some wording there, clearly attempting to make the most of themselves. Also included, luckily, is an anti-goblin device. 89 pages, including a checklist to determine if you have goblins. The binding is padded. Published without a jacket, fully illustrated in color. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. more information

Daffy Duck for President
Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.: Warner Books Inc, 1997. Third Printing. Hard Cover. Fine/Near Fine. Jones, Chuck. Chuck Jones' career at Warner Bros. Animation spans the entire history of the studio and most of the history of animation itself. In illustrating this book, it was kept in the original sketch form. He was integral in the development of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, our two stars in this book. Daffy Duck is, as always, fed up by Bugs. After 60 years of scheming, Daffy has found a foolproof way to carry out his vision, and that is to become President of the United States. There's only the small problem of actually becoming president, but he knows what he'll do when that happens. He will declare Rabbit Season, twelve months a year! With roadblocks at every turn, and Bugs there to point out billboards, it soon becomes a battle of wits, Looney Tunes style! Fully illustrated. The jacket has a very small tear at the bottom front corner. 28 pages, oversized book. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

Mischievous Meg
New York: The Viking Press, 1967. Hard Bound, Pictorial. Very Good/Very Good. Domanska, Janina. The Petersons lived in a comfortable old house - a big red one - down by a Swedish river which played a very important part in their lives. When it froze over, neighbors used it for a road, with horses pulling sleighs between farms. Meg, almost ten, was really named Margaret, but only called that when she was naughty. She heard that name a lot, because Meg was great at devising all sorts of escapades. Binding has light wear on the bottom edge. The dust jacket, covered in mylar, has a chip on the top and a tiny tear at the spine. 139 pages, a few have light soil marks; the first two pages have a wrinkle close to the spine. No tears.
