This book is written for non-horsey parents trying to decide if a real, live pony is within the realm of possibility for their child. Should you buy a horse or a pony? How old should your child be? Where do you find a reliable pony? How much will it cost? What equipment is best - for safety's sake? How do you take care of a pony? Against the involvment of horse/pony ownership some solid benefits to children should be carefully evaluated. Mrs. Forbes' book tells everything needful for parents to know, not only to make their decision by what to expect if the decision is "yes." Her guidance is complete even to the insurance and legal aspects of owning a horse or pony and facts about ponies for adults. 111 pages, including a glossary, appendix and index. Nicely illustrated with drawings, this book is covered in cloth with very light wear at the corners and a small spot on the back. The jacket has several small pieces missing at the back, at the spine top and the crease at both flaps is torn a bit. There is a piece missing at the bottom spine, about 1" at the highest.
