New York: Harper & Brothers, 1914. It's been almost 100 years since this volume was a bestseller! Vernon and Irene Castle were known for introducing or popularizing many now classic ballroom dances including the Fox Trot and the Tango. The 1939 movie the "Vernon and Irene Castle Story" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers is a biopic based on their lives together. Tan cover has wear and soil and fraying at corners and top and bottom of spine. Cover is soiled. Separation of cover at endpapers both front and back. Cover is decorated with brown titles and a laid in color photograph of the authors. Title page says that this book is a "Special Edition." Many full page glossy black and white illustrations, particulary of Irene Castle in classic period dress. Those interested in art deco or art nouveau clothing styles may appreciate the many photographs. Blue end papers have some soil and rubbing, following blank page has pencilled price and small stains. There are several bent page corners. We noted soil to at least four pages in the margin area.
