Scotland: British and Foreign Bible Society, 1928. The interesting thing about this book is the inscription on the front end page: "Found In Okinawa April 1945 Invasion by U.S. Armed Forces." The inscription is authentic. The book has water staining at the top half of the first and last few pages and on the inside of the covers. and bug bites at the bottoms of the first 4 pages. The cover is green cloth with gilt titles, the spine title is in Japanese. The covers are faded and stained. Otherwise the text and binding are in very good condition.. Hard Cover. Pittsburgh.: Alvin J. Johnson & Son, 1878. The book has leather board covers with embossed gilt titles on front, back and spine. The leather at the hinges is broken and held in place by the binding paper. There are chips on the leather spine strip. Old scotch tape runs vertically from top to bottom at the spine edge of the covers probably to hold the leather down but could have been for reinforcement. The frontispiece engraving is loose, otherwise the text and binding are very good. I have not checked every page but randomly I don't see underlining or other handwriting. There is an owner's name and the date 1878 written in pencil inside the front cover. In addition to the title given above the title page includes: "On the basis of Mathhew Talbot, as improved with indexes, tables, and other valuagle matter by Nathaniel West. Illustrated with Stell Plate Engravings and Maps. The engravings are from original drawings by the celebrated artists Thomas Nast and F. B.
