The Works of Oliver Goldsmith (12 volumes)
Harper & Brothers, 1900. 12-volume set. Library edition (but NOT previously owned by a library). Red cloth boards with gilt titles on the spine and an embossed gold design on the front of each book. NO JACKETS. The pages have uncut right and bottom edges, the gilt top edge is trimmed. There are many other illustrated plates with tissue guards (which have yellowed with age). The spine on each book is faded, dull and darkened from contact with dust. Some books have gray smudges on the front and/or back board. Vol. 1 has white stains and spotting, as well. The previous owner's bookplate is glued to the inside of the front and rear boards in each book. In Vol. 5, 7 and 11, the right edge of two pages attached to one another and when they were separated, this chipped one page and the small piece torn is attached to the facing page (the small tears and chips are more numerous in Vol. 5 and the bottom corner was torn from one page and remains attached to the facing page). I did not find any creases in any book. No writing or underlining. The bindings are tight. I doubt the books were handled much and, overall, they are in good condition despite the fact they are more than 100 years old.. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information

Ginabean Books, 2006. Signed by the author, addressed to the previous owner. No creases, tears or writing. The binding is tight. The book has a "stuffy" odor and needs to be aired out. I doubt the book has been read more than once, if at all. Clean. In an unusual work of fables and recollection essays, the author displays all the richness of language and the piercing emotional truth that has come to be known as the hallmark of his writing. 131 pgs.. Signed by Author. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. more information
