The spine ends and corners of the book cover have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Yellow cloth covered boards have black lettering to the spine of the book with red decoration (stars) and red rules. There is one light bump to the top corners of the book cover. The text pages are clean and bright. Endpapers are a solid white color. This is a book club edition with a book club flier laid-in. The spine ends, corners and edges of the dust jacket have some lightish rubbing, bumping and edge wear along with several small to smallish tears, some lightening to the spine of the dust jacket and a couple of small chips. The dust jacket has been price clipped. Overall, a very good to near very good+ solid copy. The spine ends and corners of the book cover have extremely light bumping. Black cloth covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine and front cover of the book. There is a bit of beginning edge wear to the corners and spine ends. The bottom edge of the front cover of the book has a couple of tiny spots. The text pages are clean and bright. The endpapers are a solid white color. The front endpaper has several spots where a previous owner used to heavy a hand with his pencil -- the pencil marks have been erased, but there are depressions left from the marks. The bottom edge of the rear endpaper has two partially inked letters that are somewhat faint, but quite visible. The spine ends, corners and edges of the dust jacket have some light bumping, rubbing and edge wear. Both top and bottom spine ends have some light, but noticeable edge wear and rubbing. The dust jacket has been price clipped as well. Included are a forewod by Raymond Aron. Translated from the French by Richard Howard. Overall, a very good+ clean, solid copy. "By a conservative estimate, within twenty-four hours after the outbreak of a nuclear war, thirty-six million Americans would die and an additional fifty-seven million would be wounded.
