Small chip to the corner of the front wrap and a little soiling on the rear wrap, a near fine copy of the wrappered edition, also issued the same year in an augmented hardcover issue. The most important single source of information on the fugitive slave rebellion in Christiana, Pennsylvania. When a white slave owner attempted to recover a runaway slave and was met with resistance led by ex-slave William Parker, the white press described it as the Christiana "riots." Frederick Douglass described it as "the battle for liberty at Christiana." Republished by the Negro Universities Press in1969; this edition is exceptionally uncommon. . more information
