Dumbarton Oaks, 1979. A small sticker indicating that this book was originally owned and discarded by the Denver Art Museum is glued to the first page. The pages at the front have a bent top corner. Several pages near the middle of the book have a bent and/or creased bottom corner. No writing or underlining. The cover has a few smudges, a lightly sunned and pinched spine, and an ink mark on the back where a pen brushed the cover. The rear cover has a bumped bottom corner and a small tear at the bottom of the spine. In this book the author considers the archaeological materials from the pre-Chavin cultures and the relationship between these early cultures and Chavin, and traces the changes in artistic style from pre-Chavin to Chavin using the feline motif as a base. Illustrated with b/w photographs and drawings. 87 pgs.. Paperback. Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. more information
