1) LETTERS FROM A LIFE INSURANCE MAN TO HIS SON
Swift, Bert

LETTERS FROM A LIFE INSURANCE MAN TO HIS SON
New Bedford, MA: Bert Swift / Reynolds Press. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1924. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of light bumping and rubbing. Top front edge of book cover has a thin, one inch long bumped, rubbed and mangled edge that appears to have been chewed on. There is a bit of light rubbing to edges of book cover overall and some rubbing and spotting to rear cover of book, otherwise, book is in very good condition. Dark tan paper covered boards have a green cloth spine with gilt lettering to front cover of book. Text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid cream color. Top edge of front endpaper has a very thin, small semi-circular water spot. A book of letters written by Swift (whether this was more metaphorical or actual letters is unsure) to his son -- the letters are all regarding the business of selling life insurance, how to do it, and how to apply the rules of this business to life in general. "My dear Son -- I am sending you these few lines while enjoying a well-earned rest among the hills of Vermont. I am proud of the way I know you are running the office in my absence and know you will always have in mind our slogan - Service first; self second". . more information

Tarkenton, Fran with Wes Smith

WHAT LOSING TAUGHT ME ABOUT WINNING The Ultimate Guide for Success in Small and Home-Based Business
New York: Simon & Schuster. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1997. 2nd Printing. Hardcover. 0684834138 . SIGNED EDITION. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of extremely light bumping and rubbing. Blue paper covered boards have a darker blue paper spine with orange gilt lettering. The text pages are clean & bright. Signed on the front endpaper by the author. Endpapers are a solid white color. Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of very light bumping & rubbing. Overall, a nice bright copy. "For eighteen seasons Fran Tarkenton - who, as a professional athlete not possessed of extraordinary natural talent, elevated scrambling to an art form - passed, hustled, and scrapped his way into the NFL Hall of Fame. Yet, despite his legendary vigor, he was the losing quarterback in three Super Bows and the association of the world loser with hisname has been difficult to dissolve. This image of failure might long since have withered Tarkenton's subsequent endeavors had it not been for his savvy business mind and willingness to take risks." ; Signed by Author . more information

3) STEVE JOBS The Journey is the Reward
Young, Jeffrey S

STEVE JOBS The Journey is the Reward
Glenview, IL: Scott, Foresman & Company. Near Fine in Very Good- dust jacket. 1988. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. 0673188647 . B&W Photographs; SIGNED EDITION. Spine ends & corners of book covers have a bit of extremely light bumping and rubbing. Black paper covered boards have gilt lettering to the spine of the book. The text pages are clean & bright. Endpapers are a solid white color. Signed in blue marker by the author on the half title page: "Dear Lampshade, / You won't be able to put this / one down. Jeffrey Young". Spine ends & corners of dust jacket have a bit of light bumping, rubbing and edge wear. There are several long semi-closed edge tears to the rear cover of the book and one edge tear that has wrinkled and has bits torn off. The previous owner, trying to be helpful, taped both the front and rear covers of the rear dust jacket to keep the tears from continuing or worsening. Much of this tape repair has been carefully removed, but where the tape adhered, there are shadows and lifted bits. Overall, a very nice copy of the book with a dust jacket that has seen better days. (on a good note, the dust jacket IS complete). Jeffrey S. Young is the founder of MacWOrld Magazine, and an insider who knows the business of computers / personal computers -- definitely someone who has the inside story. "Here is the fascinating insider's account of the rise to power - and the fall from grace - of Steve Jobs, cofounder of Apple Computer, Inc. You'll learn about Job's childhood in Santa Clara county and his school years. You'll follow him through a spiritual odyssey that included a summer in India, the discovery of Zen Buddhims, and the development of the personal computer." ; Signed by Author . more information
