The entire field of study was in disarray: previous published studies had left a great deal t be desired in the way of accuracy and thoroughness. In 1904 the authors embarked upon a complete reexamination of this monumental task, visiting virtually every region of the world where cacti are known to grow, and making use of all available private and public collections. The result is an exhaustive, rigorously scientific account which has never been and is never likely to be superseded. This edition is an Unabridged, unaltered republication of 2nd (1937) edition. Originally published under the auspices of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, D.C. 1279 illustrations, 137 plates, 1142 text-figures. 125 identification keys. Due to the extreme weight of this book, postage will have to be determined at time of ordering. . more information
