THE STORY OF THE TOYS
England : Riverside Press, 1909. 8vo, vii, 106 pp. Dark green with bright gilt lettering on front and spine. No dust jacket. Tissue-covered glossy frontispiece of Mary Dodge, plus 5 glossy illustrations from photographs. Untrimmed pages, including some uncut. A biography of the Toy family of Cornwall, originally set down by the authors mother with no intention of publicaion. The story was of such great interest to family members that she hoped to review it for printing, but sudden illness cut short her plans. In this book her daughter carries out mothers plans, and the little book is printed nearly as she wrote it but with a greater emphasis on the grandchildren born from 1875 to the date of publication in 1909. Slight white scuff on the rear board, and a 2 white mark or rubbing at the base of the spine. Spine ends and corners are lightly bumped. No writing, underlining, highlighting or dogearing. Very good minus. (more information)

Binding is Blue cloth decorated in gilt and with gilt titles on spine and gilt monogram of George III on front board of each volume, the set is housed in a red leatherette slipcase.Books are in very good plus condition but the slipcase shows some general rubbing and gas a 4 inch tear to the leatherette contact paper at the lower rear of the slipcase. Overall condition is very good plus in a good plus slipcase. (more information)
